Tonight, Lean In Mississippi will participate in the first-ever Entrepreneur Quarterly (EQ) Meet-up. The idea is to bring entrepreneurs in the Central Mississippi area together, and support one another.

Because being an entrepreneur is hard.

The “hustle” and “grind” are not glamorous, no matter what it looks like on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. There are days when you’re so busy working on a project, you’re lucky to get a shower and wash your hair. (If that sounds familiar to new parents, it should. There are a lot of parallels to giving birth to a baby and giving birth to your dream business!)

Starting a company or organization can also be lonely. You get into a bubble where the days fly by, and you get to the end of the week and try to remember the last time you had an honest-to-god face-to-face conversation with another human being!

That’s why these types of events are so important.

Getting together with other people, especially people outside of your regular circle, can be liberating. It can refresh your creativity.

Now, you don’t need to be an entrepreneur to come to the meet-up. I argue that if you have the “entrepreneurial spirit” in your job, you’re just as welcome there. And you’ll get to meet dozens of other people in different networking groups, like Lean In Mississippi.

So join us tonight, 6:30 p.m. at Sal & Mookie’s in Jackson.

It’s free. There is free food and drink specials.
